Freedom, creativity, and authenticity are some of my most important values. The step to starting my own business was therefore easily taken.

 

As a creative jack-of-all-trades who needs variety, my offering is therefore quite extensive.

 

While pursuing a Master's degree in Oriental Languages and Cultures at Ghent University, I gradually started painting on my own. It all began as an outlet and a way to calm myself down.

 

I never received formal artistic training, but set to work autodidactically. Once I started, my hunger was insatiable. My need for challenge and new experiences led me to constantly seek out different types of canvases and media.

 

My work is strongly influenced by my studies and travels to Asia. As a student of Sanskrit, I therefore chose a name for my small business linked to this language. Kalaa, that with which we fill our prana or life energy, causing it to come to life.

 

Moreover, I have always remained an eternal student and have further educated myself in subjects such as creative therapy, mindfulness, nutrition, and intuitive coaching. I have also taken courses in Feng Shui, Siberian Shamanism, acupressure, sound healing, and tea sommelier.

The confidence to take the leap into self-employment was made possible in part by the opportunity to freelance at Atmostoria. They are a company that creates sets for theme parks such as Walibi, Plopsaland, and Bellewaerde. I was able to start working for them as a painter.

​

In addition to this work, I also have my own creative activities in which I provide custom artistic work and organize workshops.
